Chapter 7 Future Plan

            4) Internationalization and Raising the University Ranking

As described in Chapter 3.9, CTU is enthusiastic about internationalization. One important factor
is signing Memoranda of Understanding between CTU and other universities, to enhance academic
            linkages through:

Mutual academic visits to share information
            and experiences,
             - Joint research, joint field visits, joint semi-
                 nars/ workshops/conferences on specific
                 fields
             - Joint research proposal and application,
             - Academic exchange activities to strengthen

                 academic societies,
             - Effective mutual utilization of laboratory
                 equipment and facilities
             - Joint lectures, special seminars, List of Partners Signing MoU with CTU
             - training on university management and ad-
                 ministration
             - Joint degree, double degree, transfer of degrees
             - Student exchange, study tour
             - Strengthening higher education network, etc.

The JSUC of the JICA CTU Project is composed of nine Japanese universities, all of which have already
been partners with CTU. Therefore, these universities are expected to continue academic collaboration
with CTU after the termination of the Project. The collaboration supported by Memoranda of
Understanding will accelerate CTU’s internationalization, which constitutes an important indicator of
            the university global ranking.

In general, the annual global rankings are based on factors such as:
            - Research Output and Impact
            - Academic Reputation
            - Citations per Paper
            - Teaching
            - Faculty Students Ratio
            - Income from Industry
            - International Links

            - International Students Ratio
            - International Faculty Ratio
            - Employer Reputations
                                                                        Eleven (11) indicators
As an example, among the 11 indicators
                                                                   (the QS Asia University Rankings)
and their weights (%) in the QS Asia
University Ranking, CTU should be able to strengthen those indicators related to research (1, 4, 5, and
            6) within a few years, as a result of joint research activities of the Project. The number of staff members
with a PhD degree will increase to 46 as the output of HRD activities of the Project within four years
from now. Through continuous efforts to internationalization, CTU will also attain higher ratings of the
            indicators 4, 9, 10, and 11.
