Chapter 4 Results of Joint Review
4.2.1 Summary
The purpose of this questionnaire survey was to gain the overall picture on how the Projects, the
Technical Cooperation Project and the ODA Project, influenced (1) capabilities of program leaders, staff
members and students involved (Question 1), and (2) attitude to research, laboratory atmosphere,
and environmental consequence of research activities (Question 2). The questionnaire sheet (next
two pages) was sent to the leaders of the four programs under the TC Project and the 36 programs
under the ODA Project. The leaders were asked to provide his/her perception on the above aspects.
Therefore, the results exclusively reflect the views of program leaders, and do not include the views of
staff members and students themselves.
Overall, the Projects have exerted highly to moderately positive influences on capabilities of the
program members and laboratory practices. Particularly, this is obvious for the results on the program
leaders and staff members, while the rating is somewhat lower for the students (see pages of 4.2.2
“Graphical presentation of the responses to Question 1”).
