Chapter 4 Results of Joint Review
[Question 3: How long (how many times more) model lectures will be continued?]
- As long as possible because knowledge is always updated
- Propose to invite more Japanese professors for the new programs and teaching in English
- I expect that model lecture’s content by Japanese lecturers could be used for Vietnamese teaching
at CTU.
[Question 4: What do you expect from model lectures and Japanese lecturers?]
- Japanese professors cooperate with CTU professors to supervise students for graduation theses.
- To have more time of co-lecturing with Japanese professors
- To have much more time to contact Japanese professors and exchange ideas with them, for making
some practical exercises for students and promoting more collaboration with Japanese professors
for study and research on the MD in the future.
[Question 5: Anything must be improved or enhanced more about model lectures and Japanese lectur-
ers?]
- Need to have more time for preparation to discuss with each other how to conduct and proceed
with a model lecture in order to make the lecture more effective and efficient, especially in case of
an online lecture.
- Leaders of some of the local governments want their staff to learn more advanced knowledge and
experiences from Japan, even visiting actual sites of farming in Japan. This is an important issue for
local government staff participating in this program.
[Any other comments/ recommendation/ ideas for more attractive MSc programs]
- I would like to have information about which Japanese professors have interests in research/work
in the MDR.
4.3.6 Summary, Recommendation and Challenging Issues
1) Summary
a) According to the results of questionnaires, 82 % of the students and 83 % of the lecturers and the
managing staff rated scale 4 & 5 (Satisfaction > 50 %). Therefore, the results are fairly good in
general.
nd st
b) Student’s satisfaction in the environment course (2 cohort: 1 year master students) was
st nd
relatively low compared to the students in the agriculture course (1 and 2 cohorts). On the
contrary, the satisfaction level of students from Vinh Long Province was considerably higher than
the other groups.
c) Regarding the model lectures, Japanese professors received high ratings as a whole from both
students and co-lecturers because of their deep, updated and practical knowledge as well as with
respect to their teaching methods and materials.
2) Recommendation and challenging issues
a) Course design
➀ Need more practical sessions/ field activities for students to understand about the real situation of
the MDR.
