Training and teaching human resources is a continuous process of organizations to meet the
developed change in an integrated globalization world. Especially, staff who is working in training
and teaching needs to upgrade and frequently refresh their knowledge. The Project has conducted a
significantly critical mission. One of the missions of the Project is training Academic Administration
and Management. Thereby, most CTU administrating leaders got a chance to participate in short-
term training courses at Japan Universities. The program was very successful because of its
effectiveness.
CTU staff had studied practical knowledge about financial management, facilities management,
network computer management, library management, academic affairs management at famous
Japanese universities. Here are the three most fascinating lessons we would like to share.
First, a detailed plan is vital to the success of training courses. We got good experience from the
organizers of the training courses. They prepared cautious plans from recruiting candidates for the
training courses to evaluating training courses. The schedule of the plan was exact; therefore, we joined
the training course comfortably. We got appropriate knowledge with objectives of training courses.
Second, automation helps management effectively. Software computer systems have controlled
automatic management activities of universities in Japan. It is convenient to handle the daily activities
of universities, especially these systems can support leaders of universities to make the decision.
Third, widening relations between CTU and Japanese Universities was one successful result of
the Project. Through the training courses, managers of CTU make good relationships with Japanese
Universities. One of the good relationship cases is the relation between CTULRC and NUL. The two
libraries have exchanged books, and the librarian of NUL has visited and worked at CTULRC several
times. The relationship has been working well.
In general, the mission of Academic Administration and Management training courses has been
successful. Managers of CTU not only refresh their practical knowledge but also widen good relations
with Japanese Universities. The result of training courses helps managers of CTU contribute to the
development of CTU.
