Chapter 2 Results of Technical Cooperation Project
2) Control and - This Regulation should apply to all Animal Experiments using vertebrates;
Manage-
ment - In case that the implementation of an Animal Experiment is relegated to a party
and/or parties outside CTU, the PI must ensure that the Animal Experiment is
conducted in accordance with this Regulation;
- The use of endangered species is to be restricted to scientific research that
cannot be replaced by any other kind of animals, and it is to abide by the
country’s regulations on the conservation of endangered species.
3) Committee - The Rector of CTU appoints the Animal Ethics Committee of Can Tho University
(hereinafter referred to as the CTU-AEC) as defined in Article 5.
- The CTU-AEC comprises 25 members, including 01 Chairperson, 01 Deputy
Chairperson, and 01 Secretary. The Committee’s Chairperson is a member of
CTU’s Rectorate Board.
- The CTU-AEC has a term of 5 years according to the term of the Rector.
4) Roles of the The CTU-AEC shall be established at CTU in order to deliberate the matters listed
in the following items:
CTU-AEC
- Compatibility of an Animal Experiment Plan to the Law of Viet Nam.
- Compatibility of an Animal Experiment Plan to the present Regulation.
- Conditions, Rearing Facility, and Laboratories at pre-deployment and during
the implementation of the experiment if possible.
- The methods of animal experimenters in self-checkup and self-evaluation.
- Other relevant matters.
5) Sessional - Under the CTU-AEC, there are 05 sessional Committees to review the Animal
Committee Experiment Plan of relevant fields of study.
- Each sessional Committee consists of 05 persons, including 01 Head,
03 members, and 01 Secretary from the CTU-AEC membership list.
- The sessional Committees consist of CTU lecturers in the following areas of
expertise:
(a) Animal Husbandry - Veterinary Medicine
(b) Aquaculture and Fisheries
(c) Animal Resources
(d) Biochemistry – Pharmacology – Biomedicine
(e) Animal Biology
