Chapter 2  Results of Technical Cooperation Project

             ODA Loan              On May 24  and June 6 , 2019, two seminars on management of laboratory safe-
                                   ty were held at CTU by a JICA short-term expert. The number of participants of
                                   both seminars is 169 including researchers, lecturers, administrative staff and
                                   students from many colleges and relevant units of CTU.

                                   In Oct. and Nov. 2021, nine members of CTU in charge of BSL-3 had online
                                   training on BSL-2 and BSL-3. The training was organized by NIHE in Hanoi
                                   with support of JICA NIHE Project. Practical training on BSL-3 is expected to
                                   be conducted in Hanoi as early as possible after the COVID-19 restrictions are
                                   releaxed.

                                   It had also been under consideration to dispatch core technical staff to Japan by
                                   the end of the Project for short-term training on management of common-use fa-
                                   cilities and equipment if all restrictions due to COVID-19 would be lifted in time.
                                   As of the end of Oct. 2021, the training plan was unfortunately cancelled due to
                                   the pandemic situation.
