Chapter 7 Future Plan
a solution “inter-regional approach and innovation for sustainable agricultural development adapted to
climate change in the Mekong Delta”.
Climate change is no longer the issue of any single country or region. For a long time, it has become
a widespread matter of global discussion for inclusive solutions. In Viet Nam, the scenarios of climate
change that the MD is suffering are no longer at the identification stage but already turn into present
consequences. Foreign experts have participated in discussion to aid the MD in coping with climate
change
1) Overall Goal and Indicators of the Project (phase 1)
The Overall Goal of the Project and its indicator of the Record of Discussions are as follows:

Research and education capacity of CTU in the three fields (agriculture, fisheries/aquaculture and
environment) is internationally recognized, and to contribute to value-added agriculture and fisheries/
aquaculture and solution of environmental issues of the MDR.

Research, education and outreach capacity of CTU are highly evaluated by the MDR society.
2) University Ranking (Indicator-1)
CTU is ranked the top university in Viet Nam and 351-400 in all universities in the world, according
to the QS University Ranking by Subject (Agriculture and Forestry) in 2021.

On the basis of all subject analysis, CTU is still ranked outside of 1,000 in the world universities,
and ranked between 4 and 7 in Vietnamese universities for the last few years (QS Ranking). Other
university ranking data, such as by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking, show
similar results.
CTU seeks to upgrade the university capabilities to internationally-recognized-institute levels.
CTU has established scientific and technological cooperation with many international organizations,
universities, and research institutes. As a result of these cooperative projects, including the current
JICA CTU Project in both ODA Loan and TC schemes, the academic and administrative capabilities of
staff members have been considerably enhanced. When the construction of new facilities with modern
experimental equipment has been completed by the year 2021/2022, CTU’s capabilities in education,
research and outreach will be significantly reinforced, which should result in a higher position in
university ranking.
3) Evaluation by the MDR society (Indicator-2)
CTU’s main missions include human resource development, scientific research, and technology
transfer to serve the regional and national socio-economic development. To fulfill the missions, CTU
has actively taken part in scientific research projects, applying advanced scientific and technological
