Chapter 1 Basic Information

Joint Coordinating Committee

JCC was established in order to facilitate inter-organizational coordination. JCC was held at least
once a year and whenever deemed necessary. JCC reviewed the progress, revised the overall plan when
necessary, approved an annual work plan, conducted evaluation of the Project, and exchanged opinions
on major issues that arose during the implementation of the Project. A list of members of JCC is shown
in Table 2.
Overall Activities (Implementation)

Under the structure in Table 2, the Project has been implemented for the period of five (5) years and
nine months (March 15th, 2016 – December 14th, 2021). The overall record of activities is shown in
Table 3.
1.9 Project Budget

JICA Viet Nam, through Document No. 1570. 2015/JICA-IF, October 12th 2015 confirmed the cost
of the project which the Japanese side would bear through JICA was estimated on a tentative basis at
400,212,177 Japanese Yen (74.44 billion VND), based on the preliminary planning figures for the
Project. <Note: 1 Yen = 186 VND (October 28th, 2015)>
The actual amount of budget disbursed through JICA during the Project implementation period of 5
years and 9 months was almost the same amount as initial plan.
Equipment
In the scope of TC project, JICA procured more than 90 items of necessary equipment for research and
scientific education. Total cost for the equipment purchased during the Project implementation period
is about 5.52 billion VND (26 million Japanese Yen).
In particular, in 2020 and 2021, to meet increasingly higher demands of CTU due to COVID-19, the
Project purchased common equipment used for online conferences/lectures/seminars, etc. for effective
and efficient operation of the Project activities.
CTU was to be responsible for custom clearance (tax free item) and other expenses necessary for
transportation within Viet Nam of the equipment.
