For the implementation of the second batch of research project, the Project Management Unit (PMU) of CTU Improvement Project organized the meetings of 15 Technical Committees on the 11th, 12th and 13th of June 2018 to evaluate 15 submitted research proposals. These proposals have been called and processed since 5th January 2018 and will be implemented in 3 years starting from October 2018. The organization of these Technical Committees’ meetings follows the selection process in the Guidelines for Research Management of the CTU Improvement Project established based on the official Project documents, i.e., the Feasibility Study document and the Minutes of Discussion of different meetings among JICA, delegations of Japanese Professors, Project consultants and CTU, as well as the Guidelines for Management of Research Projects in the Circular 11/2016/TT-BGDĐT dated 11th April 2016 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

On December 15th, 2016, Can Tho University (CTU) held Kick-off Meeting of Consulting Services for Can Tho University Improvement Project. Attending the meeting were representatives of JICA Vietnam Office, representatives of the contractors of consulting services, CTU’s Rectorate Board, Project Management Unit, and leaders of CTU’s units.

The Project Management Unit (PMU) organized the Scientific Committee’s meeting on February 24th, 2017 at the Administration Building of Can Tho University (CTU) to evaluate the 6 kick-off research proposals under the CTU Improvement Project. These proposals have been called and processed since January 29th, 2016. This meeting follows the selection process established in the official Project documents, i.e., the Feasibility Study document and the Minutes of Discussion of several meetings among JICA, delegations of Japanese Professors and CTU, as well as the Guidelines for management of research projects in the Circular 11/2016/TT-BGDĐT on April 11th, 2016 of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Along with economic development, the risk of losing biodiversity resources is increasing, then, building mechanisms to support sustainable development becomes urgent. On October 07th, 2016, Can Tho University (CTU) welcomed and worked with the delegation of Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) Committee on Nature Conservation, Japan to survey the status of research in the field of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture at CTU.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Vice Rector of CTU has detailed information about the Mekong Delta and CTU, the cooperative relationship between the University with Japanese partners in recent years. In particular, the University is conducting research with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the fields of agriculture, aquaculture and environment.
